bti products: Specialists in Microbial Detection and Control

Mitigation/Treatment

When and how should we clean our system?
Cleaning of an industrial system should be done to maintain microbes, slimes, deposits, and corrosion at acceptable levels for that system.  For example, ultraclean water systems in clean rooms require much cleaner conditions than most cooling towers. There are many options for cleaning industrial systems and many companies that specialize in cleaning.

BTI Products' On-Site Diagnostic Facility Assessments can aid in determining if and how cleaning should be done so that you have the information you need to contact cleaning companies of your choice.  If cleaning is required, our Mitigation Protocols and On-Site Mitigation Management are available to meet the mitigation needs of your facility.  In addition to these services,  BTI Products provides Cleaning Monitoring Kits allowing for monitoring of cleaning procedures in real time on site.

When and how should we treat our system?
Most industrial systems, such as cooling towers, process streams, etc., are treated in consultation with a chemical treatment company which provides the treatment chemicals.

BTI Products’ On-Site Diagnostic Facility Assessments can aid in determining if treatment is necessary and, if so, which treatment approaches are most effective for you facility so that you have the information you need to contact chemical vendors of your choice.  If treatment is required, our Mitigation Protocols and On-Site Mitigation Management are available to meet the mitigation needs of your facility.  In addition to these services,  BTI Products provides Treatment Monitoring Kits  allowing for monitoring of treatment procedures in real time on site.

In some cases (e.g., fire protection sprinkler systems), construction and operation make traditional approaches to treatment unworkable.  In addition, traditional treatment chemicals are difficult or impossible to use in these systems.  For these cases, BTI Products has developed special and patented approaches to treatment which take advantage of conditions in these systems to prevent and properly treat microbial and corrosion problems.   A couple of examples of our products that address the treatment needs of FPS are the MICtreat™ FPS System and MICtreat™ FPS Chemical

Which products are best for cleaning and treating our system?
The types of products that would be most effective in cleaning and treating a system depend upon many factors, including:  the type of system, system history, operational and configuration factors, types and severity of microbial and other corrosion problems, and compatibility of potential cleaning and treatment products with system components and products currently being used.

The first step in choosing products appropriate for your system is to diagnose problems occurring in the system.  Gathering information about the history as well as configuration and operation of the system is also helpful.  BTI Products’ On-Site Diagnostic Facility Assessments and Diagnostic Test Kits can aid in determining which problems are affecting the system.

If you have already diagnosed the problem and are looking for mitigation recommendations and assistance, we offer Mitigation Protocols and On-site Mitigation Management to meet your facility’s needs.

Does BTI Products offer turnkey services?
We offer a variety of services, including On-Site Diagnostic Facility Assessments and On-Site Mitigation Management, which BTI Products’ personnel implement with the assistance of your facility’s field and/or maintenance personnel.  We have found this to be the most economical and effective solution to proper assessments and mitigation.  Because the facility’s field and/or maintenance personnel often have an intimate understanding of system history and operations, it is advantageous to involve them in MIC investigations, mitigation, and monitoring.  In addition, involving facility and/or maintenance personnel in these activities provides an opportunity for them to be trained in these methods so they can provide effective on-going maintenance.
