Diagnosis of the extent and severity of MIC and other corrosion mechanisms and determination of the best mitigation methods requires physical inspection of pipes and chemical tests of deposits. Physical pipe inspection and testing allows you to determine:

• distribution - where problems are occurring in the system
• severity of corrosion - whether or not equipment integrity is sufficient to remain in service
• chemical composition of deposits
• best method for removal of deposits by chemical agents
