Total Bacterial Count (FITC method)
Microscopic method for determining the total number (both live and dead) of bacterial cells in a sample.  This information can provide important clues about the types, numbers, and health of bacterial cells and communities in the sample—even in old, dried-out, or biocide-treated samples, which may contain no live microbes.  The total microbial count data can be compared with the number of viable (live) bacteria, obtained using BTI Products’ MICkits®, to determine if biocide treatments are working.  Can be performed on any type of sample.

Iron & Manganese Bacteria Detection
Microscopic method performed during the total bacterial count to determine whether or not iron and manganese bacteria are present in the sample.  Iron and manganese bacteria are often involved in slime-formation and deposition which can lead to clogging of screens, pumps, and pipelines.  Determining the presence or absence and health of these bacteria can help pinpoint whether or not problems are due to iron and manganese bacteria.  This information aids in choosing an appropriate treatment program and can provide important information about effectiveness of treatment programs that are already in place.
